Going into this movie I had high hopes. Lots of talk has been positive about the movie and in the end all I can say is: Wait for it on DVD.
Australians must scare easy because overall this movie was a let down. It takes about an hour into the movie just to see the hunt begin.
The story takes place in Australia where we meet our three characters. Two are female and one burnt out surfer dude. They begin a road trip and along the way decide to stop at Wolf Creek, an area that a meteor once struck. After learning that their car battery is dead, along with their watches, until a friendly local shows up to help them out.
After giving them a lift with the promise of fixing the car they wake up bound and wondering how they got into this situation. This alone was a good part of watching the film, my major problem was it took nearly the entire movie to lead us here. Watching two semi good looking women and a tool of a guy travel a few hundred miles was not really needed. It got to the point you wanted to get up and leave mid way through thinking you walked into the wrong movie.
Once the action kicks off though, it is short lived. The climax of this flick just didn’t bring me the scares to suggest anyone spending their hard earned cash on a trip to the local Cineplex.
Overall I can’t say it was all in all a horrid movie. It just did not deliver the action I expected soon enough. In the hour before it started to get juicy I felt no connection with the characters and feel it would have been more thrilling then a huge build and then a wham bam ending.
