Scott Hartsman a senior producer on EverQuest II has responded to the earlier story about Curt Schilling appearing as a mob in EQ2. It seems he will come in many versions with a Curt Schilling raid mob coming after the ALS drive.
Scott had this to say:
(From the original link: "as an epically awesome, loot-dropping virtual bad guy who battles unwary players")
I think I'll find out where that wording came from.
The idea is to make him available on the island for everyone including trial people to take a smack at.
I suppose people there could form a raid and take him out. 24 real newbies managing to form up would itself be pretty epic.
Edit: So that's where it came from. Us. I see how it happened. Could be a little clearer -- The version of him that's a part of the ALS drive isn't the same version of him that will occur later in the game.
Also worth mention is the SOE naming policy that has some of the EQ2 fan base laughing at this at the moment:
All of the names you find in the world of EverQuest II should reflect the genre of the game. Original, high-fantasy style names are desired, but all naming options in EverQuest II will be subject to the following Policies. The following types of names are inappropriate:
7. Non-fantasy oriented names from popular media. These names can be either fictional (e.g. Rambo, Darthvader) or non-fictional (e.g. Garth Brooks, Pierce Brosnan, Ronald Reagan, Michael Jordan) or Curt Schilling?
