We have run the recently released demo of Battlefield 2: Modern Combat through the paces and after hours of gameplay, we finally have time to tell you about it.
The demo, which has a download size of 382.14 MB, will provide Xbox 360 gamers a great sample of the intense 24-player multiplayer experience available in the final game.
Battlefield 2: Modern Combat features a single player campaign where gamers see both sides of a conflict in one of the most treacherous regions in the world - Kazakhstan. Gamers will plunge headlong into the fog of war and must ultimately choose sides in a furious showdown where nothing is as it seems.
Battlefield 2: Modern Combat also delivers the Battlefield franchise's trademark multiplayer action, delivering fierce 24 player online battles. Fighting for one of 4 sides - the US, the European Union, the Chinese, or the newly formed Middle East Coalition -players armed with the latest modern weaponry can choose to control any of the 30+ vehicles in the game.
Battlefield 2: Modern Combat also boasts advanced online community features, including full clan support, friend’s lists, voice over IP, and rankings and stat tracking.
The demo features the level A Bridge Too Far and offers capture the flag and conquest modes and features about eight players in the Quick match mode.
Modern Combat is the same game that shipped to retail last fall on Xbox and PlayStation 2, but the single-player AI has been improved and the graphics have been drastically updated, especially in the areas of lighting, high-dynamic range, and high resolution textures.
Overall the demo has gone fairly smooth. There has been some outages from time to time but for the most part the demo servers have stayed fairly stable. Lag has not been an issue either with most battles playing out with no choppiness. All vehicles are in the game including the jeeps, hummer, tanks and helicopters.
With the game hitting retail April 11th I suggest you download the demo if you have Xbox Live silver or gold and a broadband connection. Either way this is a game worth picking up on Tuesday and just very well may dominate the FPS genre on Xbox Live until we get Halo 3.
