No New Xbox Live Dashboard Tuesday
Monday, May 01 2006 @ 04:27 PM CDT
With the recent rumors of Xbox Live 3.0 coming on Tuesday we contacted the folks at Microsoft to find more information on this planned update.

Xbox Live will be offline from 02:00 - 15:00 Tuesday Pacific Time for the schedualed update. This is all happening just in time for E3 where Microsoft has big plans for the Xbox 360 and Xbox Live. Though despite earlier confirmed reports of the 13 hour downtime, no dashboard update will be made.

WhoDigs: What changes will be made to Xbox Live with the downtime on Tuesday?

MS: This is a service maintenance upgrade on the back end for Xbox.com, Xbox Live and the Xbox.com forums. There will be no dashboard update.

WhoDigs: Any word on what new Marketplace downloads we can look forward to for E3?

MS: We haven't announced anything specific, but expect Marketplace to be flooded with E3 content during and after the show.

In June of 2005, PC World did an article where Microsoft announced that “labs in Cambridge, England, are developing a file-sharing technology that they say could make it easier to distribute big files such as films, television programs, and software applications to end users over the Internet.” The system is Microsoft's answer to BitTorrent. When questioned about the possibilty of the inclusion when a dashboard update is finally made our represenative declined to comment on rumors and speculation.

Currently there is no ETA for the new dashboard. Guess we wait and see if that changes come E3.
