Zahn to Leave CNN to Make Way for Brown

Paula Zahn is leaving CNN, turning her prime-time slot over to Campbell Brown. Zahn's final program will be Aug. 2. Others will fill in until November, when Brown — newly hired from NBC News_ will start, CNN said Tuesday.

Zahn has been at the network for nearly six years since jumping from Fox News Channel — her first day on the job Sept. 11, 2001. She said she expects to stay in television after taking some time off.

It must have felt like the good ol' days at NBC: the three most-watched prime-time programs and "Nightly News" back on top of the ratings. Too bad it's the middle of summer, when few people are paying attention.

NBC's "The Singing Bee" was the most popular program for the second week in a row, according to Nielsen Media Research. With 11 million viewers, it's hardly a sensation, but host Joey Fatone can at least claim bragging rights over Fox's similar guess-the-lyrics show.

Tony Yayo, a rapper with hip-hop group G-Unit, rejected an offer Tuesday of nine months in jail in exchange for pleading guilty to slapping and punching a 14-year-old boy.

Yayo, 29, whose real name is Marvin Bernard, was charged in March with assault, harassment and endangering the welfare of a child for allegedly hitting the boy, James Rosemond. The alleged victim is the son of Jimmy "Henchman" Rosemond, recording executive and manager of The Game.

Lindsay Lohan, who was arrested and released on bail for investigation of misdemeanor driving under the influence and with a suspended license, and felony cocaine possession, says she's innocent.

Lohan was arrested early Tuesday in Santa Monica, less than two weeks after completing her second trip to rehab.

Malaysia's biggest book chains ended a Harry Potter book sales boycott Tuesday that aimed to highlight how their business is threatened by grocery megastores that slash book prices.

The price dispute left at least 32,000 copies of the best-selling "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" languishing in storage following its release on Saturday.

Genial comic Drew Carey was tapped Monday to replace silver-haired legend Bob Barker on the CBS daytime game show "The Price is Right." The deal was set Monday afternoon shortly before a taping of CBS' "Late Show" with David Letterman, where he confirmed it.

"I realize what a big responsibility this is," he said. "It's only a game show, but it's the longest-running game show in American television and I plan to keep it that way."

Tupac Shakur's mother is seeking to prevent his former label, Death Row Records Inc., from selling the late rapper's unreleased recordings as part of a bankruptcy settlement.

Afeni Shakur sought an injunction in federal bankruptcy court Friday claiming Death Row was attempting to sell Shakur material that belonged to the rapper's estate.

Lindsay Lohan, who just finished a second stint in rehab for substance abuse treatment, was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving early Tuesday, authorities said.

Lohan, who is already facing a drunken driving charge in Beverly Hills, was pulled over near the Santa Monica Police Department after authorities spotted her car chasing another vehicle, said Sgt. Shane Talbot.

Two guys named Chuck and Larry edged out a teenager named Harry at the weekend box office. Adam Sandler and Kevin James' comedy "I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry" overcame bad reviews to debut ahead of "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," according to studio estimates Sunday. But they were close enough that there was a slight chance rankings could change when final weekend figures come out Monday.

CBS is finding it tough to replace Bob Barker on "The Price Is Right" because he has "the biggest shoes in Hollywood to fill," CBS entertainment chief Nina Tassler said Wednesday.

Comedian Drew Carey is among those the network is talking with about the job, she said. Carey will host CBS' prime-time game show "Power of 10," debuting in August.

Chappelle OK After Brief Hospitalization

Dave Chappelle was hospitalized over the weekend for exhaustion, his publicist said Tuesday. The 33-year-old comedian checked into an emergency room on Saturday and was released a few hours later, publicist Carla Sims said.

"It was exhaustion; he had been traveling," she said. "He's fine."
