The brown hooded cloak worn by Obi-Wan Kenobi in the "Star Wars" films — and then forgotten for years in a warehouse — sold for $104,000 to an anonymous telephone bidder Tuesday at an auction of movie and TV memorabilia.
Audience members raised their paddles in rapid succession as costumes flashed across TV screens at Bonhams, a British auctioneer, as staff fielded phone bids from all over the world. When the hammer dropped on a Bond girl's cat-suit or Anthony Hopkins' army uniform, men in dark blazers whispered the prices into their cell phones.

No $3,900 Curry for Kanye West |

Kanye West is not eating any $3,900 curry, his management said Tuesday. The British Raj restaurant had said that a music promotion company was paying that princely sum, plus travel and accommodation for the restaurant's head chef, to send a fully cooked Indian meal from Wales to New York for a meeting with West and seven guests.
But the music star's publicist said West wasn't planning to be in New York during the week, and that the food wasn't for him.

Rosie O'Donnell says she began being treated for depression after the Columbine school shootings and hangs upside down for up to a half-hour a day to improve her mental state.
When gunmen killed 13 people at Columbine High School in Colorado in 1999, O'Donnell said she felt as if it had happened to her children.

Daniel Radcliffe has signed on to star in the final two "Harry Potter" films, Warner Bros. said Monday. Radcliffe, who plays the bespectacled schoolboy wizard in the Hollywood adaptations of J.K. Rowling's novels, will reprise the role in "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows."
Warner Bros. will release the fifth installment — "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" — on July 13, a week before the book "The Deathly Hallows" is released. The show dates for the last two movies haven't been announced.

Ever conscious of a good trend, TV networks and advertisers are increasingly adopting the YouTube model of viewer-created content.
VH1, currently airing the third season of "Web Junk 20," will next month premiere the Jack Black-produced "Acceptable TV," which attempts to fuse TV with the Web. In February, Nickelodeon debuted a two-hour programming block called "ME:TV," featuring contributions from 10-year-olds. TLC last week began a six-part documentary series, "My Life as a Child," where children were given cameras to videotape their lives.

'Spider-Man 3' to Make Debut in Japan |

"Spider-Man 3" will make its worldwide debut in Japan on May 1, three days before the action film opens in the United States, Sony Pictures Entertainment said.
A star-studded premiere will be held April 16 at a Tokyo cinema. Those expected to attend include director Sam Raimi, series creator Stan Lee, and stars Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst.

The biker buddy comedy "Wild Hogs" and its ensemble cast of John Travolta, Martin Lawrence, William H. Macy and Tim Allen was the weekend box office champ with a $38 million take, according to studio estimates Sunday.
It was Walt Disney Co.'s biggest March opening ever. It was also the largest-ever debut for the 53-year-old Travolta as well as the best non-animated movie debut for Allen, who is also 53. Macy turns 57 next week and Lawrence turns 42 next month.

Almost as soon he was sprung from jail by a radio station's money, Bobby Brown and Hot 99.5 FM bailed on the deal.
The 38-year-old R&B singer spent three nights in a Massachusetts jail last week for failing to pay child support. He was released after the station paid the $19,150 he owed on the condition that Brown appear on "The Kane Show" for a week. He was to discuss the case and how he could turn his life around during studio appearances beginning Monday.

An employee of Wolfgang Puck Catering diagnosed with the hepatitis A virus may have exposed guests at several events, including Sports Illustrated's swimsuit issue party, health officials said.
The risk of illness was "quite low," but anyone who ate raw food at the magazine's Feb. 14 party was urged to receive a preventive shot by Wednesday, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health said Tuesday.

A close friend of "American Idol" semi-finalist Antonella Barba says that the aspiring singer is not the subject of some graphically sexual pictures purported to be of her that were posted on the Internet last week.
The pictures include one of four women posing topless at the beach, their hands covering their breasts, and others of a woman engaged in a sexual act. The postings were anonymous.

Bobby Brown was ordered on Monday to remain in a county jail until he pays $19,000 in late child support and court fees, his lawyer said. "We're diligently working on getting those funds available from outside sources," said Phaedra Parks, an attorney in Atlanta where Brown currently lives. Parks doubted Brown would get out of jail before Tuesday morning.
Parks said the rhythm-and-blues singer has been struggling to meet monthly payments to Kim Ward, of Stoughton, the mother of his two teenage children.

Lawyers for Virgie Arthur want the 4th District Court of Appeal to reconsider Circuit Judge Larry Seidlin's tearful ruling Thursday that gave the attorney for the centerfold's infant daughter the right to decide the burial plans. That attorney said Smith should be laid to rest next to her son in the Bahamas.

Martin Scorsese's mob epic "The Departed" won best picture at the Academy Awards on Sunday and earned the filmmaker the directing prize that had eluded him throughout his illustrious career. Forest Whittaker won for best actor and Helen Mirren took the best actress trophy.
"Could you double-check the envelope?" said Scorsese, who had been the greatest living American filmmaker without an Oscar. He also had never delivered a best-picture winner before, despite crafting such modern masterpieces as "Raging Bull" and "Goodfellas."

Spielberg Reality Show Set for May |

A new TV series from Steven Spielberg and reality mogul Mark Burnett that offers aspiring filmmakers a $1 million studio contract will air this spring.
"On the Lot" debuts with an hourlong audition episode May 16 on Fox. The first films produced by 16 finalists will air in a two-hour episode on May 28, with four contestants eliminated the following night, the network said.
