The newly reunited Police will headline the four-day Bonnaroo Music Festival in June, which will also include the White Stripes, Tool and Wilco.
The lineup for the Tennessee music festival, to be announced Wednesday, also includes planned performances by Widespread Panic, the Roots, Franz Ferdinand and the Flaming Lips.

The singer and now movie star ("Dreamgirls") posed on a Florida beach in a yellow-and-pink bikini by House of Dereon, the fashion label she started with her mother, Tina Knowles. There's also a photo spread inside.

The Police Plan First Tour Since '80s |

The Police announced their first tour in decades Monday at a rehearsal at the Whisky a Go-Go as a throng of fans crowded near the legendary Sunset Strip nightclub.
The group, which led off Sunday night's Grammy Awards with a live performance, broke up in 1984. Members Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland have since pursued individual careers.

Hit producer and sometime rapper Jermaine Dupri has been named president of Island Record Urban Music, a newly created division of Island Def Jam Music Group.
Dupri, who has produced chart-topping songs for artists ranging from Usher to Mariah Carey, also reunited with Island Def Jam Chairman Antonio "L.A." Reid.

R&B singer Brandy was involved in a four-car freeway crash last month that left a 38-year-old woman dead, authorities said Wednesday.
The cause of the mishap was under investigation, and no arrests have been made.

Digital Music Sales Doubled in 2006 |

Global digital music sales almost doubled in 2006 to around $2 billion, or around 10 percent of all sales, but failed to compensate for an overall decline in sales of CDs, the global music industry trade body said Wednesday.
The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, or the IFPI, said it expected digital sales to account for a quarter of all sales worldwide by 2010.

Diana Ross says she's a busy woman these days. So busy, in fact, that she hasn't had time to see the hit film "Dreamgirls," which is loosely based on her life as a Motown starlet.
The 62-year-old singer told CBS "Late Show" host David Letterman on Tuesday that she is going to be a mentor on Fox's "American Idol" and is planning a world tour in March to promote her new album, "I Love You."

To rap star N.O.R.E., the Bronx gang members he befriended weren't criminals.
The rapper, who formerly went by the stage name Noreaga and whose real name is Victor Santiago, testified Wednesday on behalf of Darryl Henderson, who has been on trial for the past month in U.S. District Court in Manhattan on charges stemming from the Jan. 21, 2002 triple murder a block and a half from Yankees Stadium. Henderson faces a possible death penalty if convicted.

Van Halen made a "jump" into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Monday, along with Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five — the first rap act to be inducted into the hall — and R.E.M., the Ronettes and Patti Smith.
A panel of 600 industry figures selected the five acts to be inducted at the annual ceremony, to be held March 12 in New York. To be eligible, artists must have issued a first single or album at least 25 years before nomination.

Trey Anastasio made a surprise appearance in an upstate New York court this week and pleaded not guilty to a drug possession charge that a prosecutor said could be bumped up to a felony.
The 42-year-old former Phish frontman didn’t speak to reporters after his brief arraignment on misdemeanor charges of drug possession and driving under the influence of drugs.

Rapper Busta Rhymes was arrested after a man complained that the hip-hop star had beaten him up in a dispute over money, police said.
Rhymes, 34, turned himself in and was booked on a misdemeanor assault charge at a Manhattan police station Wednesday night, police Lt. John Grimpel said. The rapper was to be taken to court Thursday, Grimpel said.

Looks like Tom Petty won't back down after all. The veteran rocker says he's not retiring, despite a Rolling Stone article in July that suggested otherwise.
Petty said 2006 was one of the most rewarding years in his career, and he expects the ride to continue in 2007.

Woman Accused of Beatle Stalking Is Dead |

A woman who pleaded no contest to trespassing at the Hawaii home of George Harrison was found dead in a blood-splattered sport utility vehicle, apparently the victim of a murder-suicide, police said.
Cristin Keleher, 34, served four months in jail after her arrest for entering Harrison's house in Maui in December 1999. Prosecutors accused her of stalking the former Beatle.

James Brown, the undeniable "Godfather of Soul," told friends from his hospital bed that he was looking forward to performing on New Year's Eve, even though he was ill with pneumonia. His heart gave out a few hours later, on Christmas morning.
The pompadoured dynamo whose classic singles include "Papa's Got A Brand New Bag" and "I Got You (I Feel Good)" died Monday of heart failure, said his agent, Frank Copsidas of Intrigue Music. He was 73.

Unhappy with her second try at paying tribute to Dolly Parton for the "Kennedy Center Honors," Jessica Simpson has pulled out of the show.
Simpson drew unwanted attention earlier this month when she flubbed the words to Parton's "9 to 5" during a taping of the annual show, grew flustered and fled the stage. Producers gave her a second chance at the song.

Evel Knievel has sued Kanye West, taking issue with a music video in which the rapper takes on the persona of "Evel Kanyevel" and tries to jump a rocket-powered motorcycle over a canyon.
Knievel, whose real name is Robert Craig Knievel, filed a lawsuit in federal court in Tampa on Monday claiming infringement on his trademark name and likeness. He also claims the "vulgar and offensive" images depicted in the video damage his reputation.

Jerry and Karen Wessler claim in their lawsuit that they still suffer severe and permanent emotional injuries from seeing deranged fan Nathan Gale rush the stage at the Alrosa Villa nightclub Dec. 8, 2004.

Forty years after it was made, The Velvet Underground's first recording has become a financial hit - in cyberspace. Bought for 75 cents four years ago at a Manhattan flea market, the rare recording of music that ended up on the influential New York band's first album, "The Velvet Underground & Nico," sold on eBay for a closing bid of $155,401.
