Babyface Files Suit Against Anita Baker |

Grammy-winning singer-producer Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds has filed a breach of contract lawsuit against singer Anita Baker, claiming she owes him more than $250,000.
According to the lawsuit, filed Thursday in Superior Court, Baker broke two oral agreements with Edmonds, who co-wrote, produced and performed on the song "Like You Used to Do" on Baker's 2004 album "My Everything."

A man was charged Friday with weapons violations in a shooting earlier this week that took the life of hip-hop artist Proof, a close friend of Eminem.
Mario Etheridge, 28, of Detroit, was charged Friday with carrying a concealed weapon and discharge of a firearm in a building, according to the Wayne County prosecutor's office.

An off-duty Greensboro, N.C., police officer has been cleared of any wrong doing after an altercation with rapper The Game in a shopping mall last year. Officers said The Game, born Jayceon Taylor, was in the mall on Oct. 28 wearing a Halloween mask.
He refused repeated requests by mall security to remove the mask and leave the mall, police said. Three off-duty Greensboro Police Department officers were called in for support.

"You don't know where to begin when you lose somebody who's been such a big part of your life for so long. Proof and I were brothers. He pushed me to become who I am. Rapper Proof fired the first bullet in a Detroit nightclub shootout that ended his life, police said Wednesday.
The bullet hit Keith Bender, 35, in the head, critically injuring him early Tuesday at the C.C.C., a bar in a strip of businesses along Eight Mile, the road made famous in Eminem’s movie of the same name.

Proof, a member of rap group D12 and a close friend of Eminem, was shot to death early Tuesday at a nightclub along Eight Mile Road, a publicist said.
The death of Proof — whose real name is Deshaun Holton — was confirmed by Dennis Dennehy, the publicist for D12's label, Interscope Records.

Los Angeles police detectives are investigating a report by "American Idol" judge Paula Abdul that a man threw her against a wall and left her with spinal injuries and a concussion after they argued at a private party over the weekend on a Hollywood studio lot.
Police Lt. Paul Vernon said the incident, alleged to have occurred about 1 a.m. Sunday at a private party at Sunset Boulevard and Gower Street, is being investigated as a battery case.

Eminem's dysfunctional relationship with wife Kim has hit another low — he has filed divorce papers, less than three months after remarrying her.
"There has been a breakdown in the marriage relationship to the extent that the objects of matrimony have been destroyed and there remains no reasonable likelihood that the marriage can be preserved," according to the filing, which was made in Macomb County on Wednesday on behalf of Marshall Bruce Mathers III, Eminem's real name.
