The New York Jets were also in festive mood after Mike Nugent's field goal with 10 seconds left gave them a 13-10 win over the Miami Dolphins, keeping their post-season hopes alive.

The New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks clinched division crowns on Sunday but much of the NFL playoff picture remained unsettled as the regular season heads toward a close.
With two games set for Monday and one week left on the regular season schedule, much is left to be decided with first round playoff byes and wild cards berths in both the NFC and AFC still up for grabs.

Jaguars running back Fred Taylor will miss Sunday’s game against New England because of a lingering hamstring injury.
Taylor, who hurt his right hamstring against Indianapolis on Dec. 10, aggravated the injury on his second carry last week at Tennessee and sat out the rest of the game. Taylor missed three days of practice this week, and coach Jack Del Rio downgraded him from questionable to out Friday.

Attorneys for three Duke lacrosse players charged with attacking a stripper say dismissing only the rape counts after their accuser again changed her story does not go far enough.
District Attorney Mike Nifong dropped rape charges Friday against Dave Evans, Collin Finnerty and Reade Seligmann after the accuser told an investigator she no longer is certain she was penetrated vaginally with the men's penises, as she had claimed earlier.

The NFL suspended receiver Antonio Bryant of the San Francisco 49ers for four games on Friday for violating the league's substance abuse policy.
Bryant has 40 catches for a team-high 733 yards and three touchdowns this season, his first with the 49ers.

Allen Iverson had 22 points and 10 assists on his Denver debut but the Sacramento Kings snapped a three-game losing streak with a 101-96 win over the Nuggets on Friday.
Iverson traveled all day to make it to Denver in time to pass a physical and wound up playing 39 minutes, shooting 9-for-15 from the field.

A lawyer who worked for BALCO founder Victor Conte is being investigated by the FBI as the source of leaked federal grand jury testimony in the steroids case, according to a Yahoo.com report.
Private investigator Larry McCormack, who worked for Conte in the early stages of the BALCO case, told the FBI that defense lawyer Troy Ellerman gave the confidential information to a San Francisco Chronicle reporter in 2004, Yahoo.com reported.

Tiki Barber has been cheered and booed and loved and hated in a 10-year run with the New York Giants that has included the highs of playing in a Super Bowl and the lows of competing on a couple of bad teams.
Barber will walk through the tunnel at Giants Stadium one last time on Sunday in what will be the final home game of a career he is ending early to become a television personality.

Carmelo Anthony won't appeal his 15-game suspension for his role in the New York Knicks brawl last weekend, according to USA Today and ESPN.com reports.
"It is Melo's desire to focus on the issue at hand, not be a distraction to his team and focus on coming back as the best teammate he can be," Bill Duffy, CEO of BDA Sports, the agency that represents Anthony, told USA Today in Thursday's editions. "He's accepting full responsibility. That's a mature response."

Allen Iverson was expected to fly to Denver in time for the Nuggets game against the Sacramento Kings Friday, the same day the airport was set to reopen after a massive snowstorm.
Meanwhile, Andre Miller, who was traded to Philadelphia along with Joe Smith, was expected to fly to Philadelphia, Nuggets spokesman Eric Sebastian said Thursday.

The Packers (7-8) held the Vikings to just 103 yards of total offense and a mere three first downs with Rayner registering all of Green Bay's points with three field goals in a low-scoring encounter.

Baseball salaries were booming even before the free-agent escalation of the last 5˝ weeks.
The average salary shot up 9 percent this year to $2,699,292, according to final figures released Wednesday by the Major League Baseball Players Association. The increase was the highest since a 12.8 percent rise in 2001 and makes it likely the $3 million mark will be broken next year or in 2008.

Nike said on Wednesday that quarterly net profit rose nearly 8 percent, beating Wall Street estimates, as the world's largest athletic shoe maker was helped by a tax benefit and strong sales of its smaller, non-Nike brands like Converse shoes.
Shares dropped more than 1 percent in extended trade to $98.39, keeping most of the gains from the regular session when the stock rose nearly 4 percent to $99.78, its highest in at least 10 years on the New York Stock Exchange.

New York Knicks guard Steve Francis says the media focuses disproportionately on the NBA because there is a predominance of black players, the New York Post reported Tuesday.
"In other sports, there are incidents that are way worse than basketball," said Francis in reference to the amount of coverage that Saturday night's brawl between the Knicks and Denver Nuggets has received. "So many worse things happen every game or four or five times a year, but because there are more black players in the NBA, it's under the microscope more than baseball or hockey."
