Jerry Stackhouse of the Dallas Mavericks was suspended for one game by the NBA on Friday for a hard foul he committed on Miami Heat's Shaquille O'Neal on Thursday night.
Stackhouse will miss the pivotal Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Sunday night, with the best-of-seven series tied 2-2 after Miami crushed Dallas 98-74 in Game 4 on Thursday.

German police on Thursday released all but three of the 429 soccer hooligans they arrested the night before during clashes with officers and other disturbances in the western city of Dortmund.
The arrests before and after Germany’s 1-0 win over Poland on Wednesday were the first significant trouble of the World Cup. They included at least 120 German hooligans who began hurling bottles and chairs when officers tried to remove them from a central square.

Duke basketball star J.J. Redick was arrested early Tuesday on charges of drunken driving, another blow to a school shaken by a lacrosse scandal.
Redick, The Associated Press Player of the Year, also was charged with unlawful use of highways for making an illegal U-turn. His driver’s license was revoked for 30 days, police spokeswoman Kammie Michael said.
